Speech-Language Therapy specializes in the recovery of speech, language, and swallowing functions. Licensed Speech-Language Pathologists provide a variety of services designed to assist people in the development of effective communication and swallowing skills.
Therapeutic treatment is designed to improve one or more of the following:
- Patient comprehension
- Verbal and non-verbal communication, including use of augmentative systems when necessary
- Cognitive status, including memory, orientation, and reasoning skills
- Oral muscle strength and functioning for both speaking and swallowing
- Swallowing skills
